ANSI MH26.2 - 2017 is the only internationally recognised standard for wire decking.
Approved and published by the American National Standards Institute, (ANSI) MH26.2 - 2017 prescribes the specification for the design, testing and utilization of welded wire rack decking.
The ANSI MH26.2 - 2017 standard applies to uniformly loaded (UDL) wire decking fabricated from welded-wire mesh, with permanently attached reinforcement, for use in storage racks. The standard provides definitions and establishes guidelines on materials, dimensional characteristics, design and fabrication methods and test procedures. In addition, the standard provides guidelines for the application and utilisation of welded-wire rack decking.
Wire decking that complies to ANSI MH26.2 - 2017 must satisfy the specifications relating to load, design, fabrication, testing as well as application and utilisation.
In summary, to comply with ANSI MH26.2 - 2017, wire decking must meet the following criteria:
- The load must be a static Uniformly Distributed Load (UDL)
- The load (UDL) and performance of a wire deck must be calculated independent of the rack beams.
- The capacity of a wire deck should not be greater than the load (UDL) independent of the rack beams, at which structural failure occurs ÷ 2
- The wire deck should not deflect by more than the span of the rack depth (mm) ÷ 165 (With a load (UDL) independent of the rack beams).
- Wire decking should not be used for dynamic loads or point loads.
- Wire decking should not be used to walk on.
MantaMESH wire decking has been independently tested to comply with all of the requirements of ANSI MH26.2 - 2017.
Every MantaMESH wire decking Item comes with an item data sheet (available as a PDF) that includes the following critical compliance information for a Uniformly Distributed Load (UDL) according to ANSI MH26.2 - 2017:
- Uniformly Distributed Load (UDL) rating
- Load at structural failure
- Allowable deflection.
